At LitWatch we respect every individual's right to privacy. Our relationship with you is our most valuable asset and is the very basis of our name and reputation.
Whether you are a LitWatch subscriber or a visitor to the public area of our Website, we understand the importance you place on the privacy and security of information that personally identifies you or your account information. We refer to and treat this information as "personal information." We extend the following pledge to you.
LitWatch Privacy Pledge & Notification

- We do not sell personal information to anyone. Your personal information is used only by LitWatch, its employees, and its agents for business purposes.
- We reserve the right to disclose or report personal information in limited circumstances where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required under law, to cooperate with regulators or law enforcement authorities, to perform necessary credit checks or collect or report debts owed to us, and to protect our rights or property.
- We use personal information in ways that are compatible with the purposes for which we originally requested it. For example, we will use the information you give us to process your requests and transactions, to provide you with additional information about products and services, or to evaluate your financial needs. To do so, we may share personal information with an agent or affiliate.
- We limit the collection and use of personal information to what is necessary to administer our business and to deliver superior service to you. This may include advising you about our products or services, those of our affiliates, and other opportunities that we believe may interest you. To serve you better, we may combine information you give us on the Web or through other channels.
- We strive to protect the confidentiality of any personal information you share with us. Companies that we hire to provide support services or act as our agent are also expected to comply with our privacy standards. While we cannot guarantee that no internet terrorist can penetrate our security measures, we strive to prevent and detect such intrusions.
- We continue to evaluate our efforts to protect personal information and make every effort to keep your personal information accurate and up to date.
If you identify any error in your personal information or need to make a change to that information, please contact us and we will promptly update our records.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by e-mail at privacy@LitWatch.com or call us at 703-684-6996.
Browsers and internet security

Any time you enter an order or provide login information on our secure sign in page, we encrypt it using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL protects information as it crosses the Internet. To support this technology, you need an SSL-capable browser. LitWatch recommends a browser like Netscape Navigator 4.06 or higher or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher. These browsers will activate SSL automatically whenever you sign on to your LitWatch account. We do not recommend the use of beta browser versions.
Your password and other security issues

Your LitWatch password is your private entry key into your account. You should never share it with anyone and you should change it periodically. You can change your password any time you like after logging in on the Change Password link.
Signing off

After you've finished accessing your LitWatch account, don't forget to sign off. This prevents someone else from accessing your account if you leave your computer and your session hasn't "timed out," or automatically shut down.
Security risk of using non-approved automated software applications

For security reasons and to guard the safety of your data, access to this site is limited to SSL-capable browsers like Netscape 3.0 or higher or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.02 or higher. Under no circumstances should you use any software, program, application, or any other device to access or log-in to the LitWatch website or to automate the process of obtaining, downloading, transferring, or transmitting any content to or from LitWatch's computer systems, Website, or proprietary software.
Cookies

To personalize your experience on our Website or with one of our promotions, and to enhance security within LitWatch, we may assign your computer browser a set of textual data, called a "cookie." Cookies enhance LitWatch's website performance in several important ways: they provide a secure way for us to verify your identity during your online session, they personalize your experience on our site, and they make your visit to our site more convenient for you. Your privacy and security are not compromised when you accept a cookie from our website. We do not use cookies to collect personal information.
In addition, companies we may hire to evaluate our Web promotions may set cookies to assist with such an evaluation. Again, neither LitWatch nor companies acting on our behalf use cookies to collect personal information.
E-mail communications and opting out

LitMail, which includes daily headline summary e-mails and e-mail alerts based on subscriber portfolios, is an important communication channel between LitWatch and its subscribers. LitWatch also uses e-mail to communicate with prospective subscribers.
To obtain the benefits of LitWatch, we must send you these e-mails. We reserve the right to use your e-mail address to send you important information relating to your account and about services and products we believe may be of interest to you. If you are a subscriber or a prospective subscriber and receive an e-mail from LitWatch about a product or service, you may unsubscribe to future e-mails about that product or service by following the instructions in the e-mail message or at our website.
LitWatch alliances and promotions

When LitWatch joins with another company to offer or provide products and services, both parties may cross-reference their databases to search for subscribers in common. This existing information may be used to help identify business alliance opportunities and to enhance the information already contained in the existing databases. LitWatch on its own, or jointly with other organizations and Websites, may offer contests, sweepstakes, and promotions. You may be asked to supply certain personal information to participate in these promotional events, which may then be used by the sponsoring parties for marketing purposes. Even if you have previously opted not to receive information or mailings about LitWatch, you may still receive information about LitWatch via these promotions if you choose to register for them. Rules and guidelines for each promotion will be clearly posted, as will notification about how the information gathered may be used. You may opt not to participate in these special promotions if you do not want to receive information about LitWatch or share your information with all sponsoring parties.
Account registration data

Potential subscribers applying online at LitWatch.com for a LitWatch account have the ability to opt out of the application process before completing it. However, we may use the information gathered on the application form during this process to send you further information about LitWatch services and products we believe may be of interest to you.
Correcting and updating your information

The accuracy of your personal information is important to us. If you are a subscriber and have a concern about your personal or account information maintained at LitWatch, or want to correct, update, or confirm your information, please send an email to LitWatch@litwatch.com.
